Sibling Grief Support:
Self-Paced Program

Gentle support on your schedule - connect when you're ready

Coffee and Laptop in Bed

When we lose a sibling, the world often doesn't acknowledge the depth of our grief. We're asked about our parents, expected to "be strong" for the family, or told we should "move on" after an arbitrary time has passed.

This isolation only deepens our pain.

This program was created to break through this isolation, providing a space where your grief as a sibling is fully recognized, honored, and supported. Here, you are never alone in your experience.

What This Group Offers

01

Access video sessions whenever works for you

No scheduled meeting times. Watch at 3 AM when you can't sleep or whenever you have a quiet moment.

03

Share photos and mementos of your sibling

Create meaningful connections by sharing photos of your sibling, special memories, or other personal experiences, and built bonds with others sharing their own sibling and grief as well.

05

Take all the time you need

Having a rough week? Need to step away? No problem. This is your journey—go as slowly or quickly as feels right for you. Zero judgment here.

02

Participate through comments

Read powerful stories from other sibling grievers and finally feel less alone.
Share your thoughts, memories, or questions and experience the profound relief of receiving validation from others who truly understand.

04

Find your people (finally!)

Connect with others who just get it without explanation. No more blank stares or awkward responses when you mention your sibling.

06

Come back whenever grief hits hard

Sibling's birthday coming up? Anniversary got you down? Return to these resources and your support community exactly when you need them most.

Gretchen creates such a safe atmosphere for connecting and sharing in this group. There is something uniquely comforting about being in community with others who have experienced sibling loss. While we all experience grief in our own ways, there is so much that is universal in it as well. Gretchen was a wonderful facilitator and touched upon the major themes of grief as they pertain in particular to sibling loss. This was an incredibly helpful experience and gave me the community I was looking for during this very hard time.

Subjects Covered:

Group starts August 11, 2024
Each week you will get prompts to encourage you to share about your sibling with other group members, as well as aspects of your grief.
Each subject will be covered in a pre-recorded video.
Questions will be answered once a week via comments to make sure that this video is helpful to you and your unique struggles.

Week 1: Understanding Sibling Grief (Introductions and tools for trauma and triggers)

Week 2: Exploring Identity Disruption -
Who am I without my sibling? We will explore how this loss creates changes to your sense of self, birth order, and your fundamental identity as someone's brother/sister.

Week 3: Understanding Family System Disruption -
Family dynamics shift drastically after sibling loss. I'm here to help you make sense of the new roles, changed communication patterns, altered traditions, and different expectations, as well as topics like family estrangement, setting boundaries with family, and more!

Week 4: Learning to Cope with Developmental Disruption -
This loss creates a massive impact on your life trajectory and milestones. You now have to experience future events without your sibling, being "out of sync" with peers, and the loss of your lifelong witness. We won't just validate these struggles - I will give you tools to cope with them!

Week 5: Uncovering Your Narrative Disruption -
Your life story fundamentally changes. You may feel like you are living in an "alternate timeline,"  or feel divided into "before" and "after,".
This feeling is real - it makes sense and is deeply valid. Together we will explore what this change means for the future.

Week 6: Getting Through Anniversaries & Coping With Triggers-
This loss leaves you alone in navigating the predictable and unexpected moments that intensify sibling grief. Learn strategies for death anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, milestone events your sibling will miss. You will gain tools for preparing emotionally, creating meaningful rituals, and managing the waves of grief that surface during these vulnerable and overwhelming times.

Week 7: Connection Disruption -
When your sibling died you lost an incredibly  unique bond. You and your sibling had a shared history, inside jokes, unconditional connection, and similar reference points that can't be replicated in other relationships. So what do we do with this heavy weight? We will explore that together?
