This page is your guide to the people in this community. Every person here has lost a sibling, and every loss is different — in cause, in circumstance, in how long ago it happened, and in what it has asked of the person carrying it
You don't need to read every profile at once. Some people find it helpful to start with their own section and let the rest come over time. Others read through everything and find themselves in someone they didn't expect. There's no right way to move through this.
What you'll find here are real people, real siblings, and real stories. Names, details, and the specific things that made each sibling who they were. We share these things because being known — and knowing others — is part of what makes this community different from grieving alone.
Jenny and her brother Isaac
Jenny lost her brother Isaac on November 8 or 9, 2025, to suicide. He was her best friend and adventure partner — they went all over the world together. Isaac was joyful and private, — he had a progressive medical condition he kept hidden from almost everyone, including Jenny.

Samantha and her brother Andrew
Samantha lost her only sibling, her brother Andrew, on February 14, 2025 to a sudden cardiac arrhythmia. He was a phlebotomist who loved helping people, and someone who came alive outdoors, whether camping, hiking, or biking. Thank you for sharing Andrew with us!
Cathy and her brother Rob
Cathy lost her brother Rob on June 11, to an unknown sudden cardiac issue, at age 63. She describes him simply as her dear, sweet, amazing brother — someone whose absence she still feels every day, even while holding onto her own deep belief that life is a continuum.
Jessi and her sister Melissa; and Jessi with her brother Johnathan
Jessi lost her brother Johnathan to suicide on October 4, 2019, and then her sister Melissa to overdose on March 18, 2026 — both of them dying in the same room, with Melissa having been the last person to see Johnathan alive. Both siblings were people Jessi fought hard to stay close to despite everything.

Kyrie and her brother Brody
Kyrie lost her only sibling, her brother Brody, on January 4, 2026, at age 26 — the circumstances unclear, possibly drug-related after a prior overdose just a month before, though he had been sober since. (There aren't many pictures of them together due to addiction struggles but this one is from 2020!)

Sky lost her sister Autumn to murder on August 3, 2023. Autumn was her biggest supporter — the person who showed up at her labor and delivery and believed in her completely.

Marissa lost her brother Anthony on May 28, 2025, to suicide. Their relationship was always easy — the same values, the same way of seeing the world — and he was an emergency vet tech she'd call for pet advice, the kind of brother who made love feel effortless

Ryan was born two days after Shana's third birthday — she grew up thinking he was her birthday present — and they had only just moved close to each other in 2020 so they could raise their kids together.

Brenda lost her sister Barb to suicide on March 26, 2023, and her brother Brent to congenital heart failure just eleven days later, on April 7, 2023. Barb had struggled with depression for 20 years, and Brenda had been her person through all of it — the daily calls, even just to hear that she was still breathing. We hope this community becomes a place where she no longer has to carry either loss alone.

Elysse lost her brother Grant to fentanyl poisoning on August 31, 2025. He had moved to New York while she stayed in California, and though they sometimes butted heads because he was bipolar, they were close — when her parents found him, Elysse flew out and quietly handled everything while they fell apart.

Payge lost her only sibling, her sister Blayr, in a car accident on September 27, 2025. Blayr was 25 — a civil engineer, a skier, unapologetically quirky — and their relationship had been complicated, but with the door open for a repair that never had a chance to come.

Members who have lost a sibling to suicide loss
Alannah lost her brother Michael on July 26, 2025. She was one month and one day postpartum with her second child when she got the call — the first one to receive it, and the one who had to tell her sisters and parents.
She has two kids under two and has been doing this without therapy because her insurance changed right when EMDR was starting to help. She called him "Funcle Mike." She says he was sunshine on a cloudy day, and you can feel that in the way she talks about him.
She is one of three sisters in this community all grieving Michael — Brighid and Keleigh are her sisters, and they are walking this road together. We hope this community becomes one more place where Michael's light is kept alive.
Alexie lost her brother Tyler in December 2021. He was 35, and his death completely blindsided her — he was masterful at hiding his pain. They bonded over music and books when he got his license and they carpooled in high school, and were doing Marco Polo together multiple times a week right up until he died.
Tyler was quick-witted, a voracious reader, an enneagram enthusiast, a world traveler, and an incredible uncle who made her daughter belly laugh at five months old. Alexie spent her whole life trying to be as cool as him.
She has a 4-year-old and 2-year-old at home and aging parents who need her. We hope she finds here what Tyler always gave her — people who think she's great exactly as she is.
Amanda lost her only sibling, her brother Mark, in November 2024. He was 41 — brilliant, kind, and hilarious. They had only recently reconnected and were planning to see so much more of each other; she had visited him just six weeks before he died.
Amanda is turning 40 in 2026, the same age Mark was, and she carries real anxiety about surpassing his age. There was a Europe trip they had planned together that she is now doing alone.
She's been coping through avoidance and distraction, and coming here was a brave step toward something different. We hope she finds in this group the companionship Mark would have wanted her to have.
Ashley lost her brother Chris to suicide on July 8, 2001 and her brother David to liver failure on July 18, 2025. She adored Chris — he was the perfect eldest brother.
Her relationship with David was more complicated. When David was very sick he received many blood transfusions, and Ashley now donates blood around anniversaries and holidays to honor him.
She is the only child remaining. She has been carrying Chris's loss for most of her life and is now grieving David too. We hope she finds here a place where both Chris and David are held — every layer, every year, all of it.
Bella lost her brother Lucca to suicide on June 10, 2024 — which is also her birthday. Her dad found Lucca while coming downstairs to make her birthday breakfast.
Bella is the eldest sibling, and with her parents struggling and falling apart in the aftermath, she has been trying to hold the whole family together on top of carrying her own grief. She has therapy exhaustion — she has done the work, she has shown up, and right now she just wants to feel less alone without having to perform healing.
She's joining us from New Zealand. We hope this community becomes the place where someone holds her for a change — and where Lucca is remembered and talked about as often as she needs.
Brenda lost her sister Barb to suicide on March 26, 2023, and then her brother Brent to congenital heart failure on April 7, 2023 — eleven days apart. She was on the phone when her brother-in-law discovered that Barb had already passed. Barb had struggled with depression for 20 years, and Brenda had been her person through all of it — the daily calls, even just to hear that she was still breathing.
Brenda is also carrying the grief of her niece, who died in 2017. She has an estranged brother and feels very alone in this. She is long overdue for a place that holds her too, and our deep wish is that this space feels safe and big enough to hold all of her grief.

Briana lost her sister Jayme on October 12, 2025. Jayme was her only sibling and a wonderful mom to four kids that Briana loves deeply.
They were total opposites but always showed up hard for each other, and Jayme was the only person who truly understood the complicated dynamics with their mom. Briana is now trying to show up for Jayme's four children while barely surviving herself.
Her friends think giving her space is helpful, but really she's just lonely. She says the heaviness is never off her mind — not for a single minute. We hope this community becomes the place that finally shows up for her.
From Bri:
Things I like to do outside my grief is enjoy all things water/outdoors in the summer, especially being at the lake. But my true escape is binging a wide variety of shows on platforms such as Netflix, Hulu or HBO.
I take a lot of pride and joy in my niece and 3 nephews and love every second of time I get to spend with them when I go visit (even though they’re all getting older and Auntie isn’t as cool as she used to be). I also take a lot of pride in caring for the most fragile of human beings as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a very busy Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. As someone who doesn’t have a family of her own, my job is really a huge part of who I am right now.
Brighid lost her brother Michael on July 26, 2025. She was six weeks postpartum with her third child when he died. Michael was sweet and sensitive from childhood, and a fierce protector of all his sisters.
Brighid's kids are also grieving him, which adds its own layer to an already enormous loss. She has been struggling especially since his birthday in January. She is one of three sisters in this community all grieving Michael alongside Alannah and Keleigh.
We hope that having her sisters here — and a whole community around them — makes the next birthday a little less impossible to face and helps her feel protected and supported here.
Cara lost both of her brothers, Chris and K.J., to suicide in 2002 and 2008. She has been carrying these losses for a long time — more than two decades for Chris, and nearly twenty years for K.J.
She describes their relationship as challenging; they were very different from one another, and that complexity has never made the grief simpler. She rarely talks about these losses outside of therapy, and she has been doing the quiet, private work of understanding how losing them has shaped her and her relationships.
We hope this community becomes a place where she doesn't have to explain herself — and where Chris and K.J. are held with the full weight of who they were and how important they will always be.
Catherine lost her brother Henry on November 3, 2023. Henry was 40, brilliant, charismatic, and highly sensitive — he went untreated until a breakdown in his early 30s, and the last decade of his life was tumultuous and terrifying for everyone who loved him. Their relationship was close but complicated and enmeshed, and the legal and financial fallout after his death has been significant and ongoing.
She lost many friends after he died. She's now in social work school, has rebuilt her life largely from scratch, and is approaching 40 herself — the age Henry was when he died — which carries its own fear.
She has done extraordinarily hard things, and she deserves a community that honors that. We hope she finds here what she has been slowly learning to rebuild: the ability to trust people again.
Charlene lost her brother Ryan on September 18, 2023. He was 51 — smart, funny, unassuming, a Chicago Cubs fan who loved Agatha Christie and Stephen King, and who sometimes called her "sissy." They called each other "dude."
Shortly after Ryan died, their mom died from a massive stroke. Charlene is now the only person left in her immediate family. She has a memory bookshelf with both their urns, memory bears made from his shirts including a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt, and she takes anniversaries off work. Both their birthdays fall in the week of Christmas.
We hope this community becomes the family she deserves.
Connie lost her brother Junior in 2023. He had just turned 18. She still finds herself waiting by the door at 3pm, expecting him to walk home from school. Hummingbirds appear to her as signs from him — she has a hummingbird tattoo with a J. Junior left behind a dog named Lucci.
When it happened, Connie had to call her sister, her mom, and her ex and heard each of them break on the phone. She has been carrying that sound ever since. We hope that in this community, she finds people who understand what it is to love someone that young and lose them that way.
Jenny lost her brother Isaac on November 8 or 9, 2025. Isaac was her best friend — the person she called in the car when she was bored, the one who never said no to a wild adventure. They snorkeled between tectonic plates in Iceland, canyoneered in Utah, cold plunged in Norway, and showed up at each other's concerts.
Isaac was joyful, private, and not depressed — he had a progressive medical condition called neurofibromatosis that caused internal pain he kept hidden from almost everyone, including Jenny.
She trusted his choice even while it broke her, and she asks that we not assume his death was rooted in depression, because it wasn't. She got married on April 25, 2026. We hope this community gives her a place to talk about Isaac the way she actually knew him — with all the joy and complexity he deserves.
From Jenny: My hobbies are curling (the sport from the Winter Olympics) and hiking in the National Parks.
Jessi lost her brother Johnathan to suicide on October 4, 2019, and then her sister Melissa to overdose on March 18, 2026. Melissa had been resuscitated three times in the two weeks before she died. They grew up in an abusive household, and both Johnathan and Melissa were people Jessi fought hard to stay close to — people she loved fiercely in circumstances that made love complicated.
Melissa was the last person to see Johnathan alive, and both of them died in the same room. Jessi is in the acute early days of her second loss and says it plainly: she is broken, and people don't understand.
We hope this community holds all of it — every layer of what she has survived — and that Johnathan and Melissa are both remembered here.
Jessica lost her sister Missy on May 6, 2025. They were both first-grade teachers in the same school district in the Chicago suburbs, living 20 minutes apart, and so woven into each other's daily lives that Missy's absence is felt at work every single day.
Jessica is the oldest of three girls, a mom to a 7-year-old named Luke and a 15-month-old named Addie, and she is also navigating a really painful shift in her relationship with her mom since Missy died.
She came here because she already knows from a previous grief group experience that community helps. We hope she finds in this group the kind of friendship Missy would have cheered for.
Julie lost her sister Melanie on May 27, 2025. Melanie was the oldest sibling and five years older than Julie — the sister Julie chose her high school for, because Melanie was so loved there.
Melanie had survived a life-threatening car accident in her 20s and lived with bipolar schizophrenia for years after, but had found stability on medication for over a decade. She became a deeply present and loving aunt — there is a particular void for Julie's oldest daughter.
Julie was pregnant with her fourth child when Melanie died. She describes the grief as sometimes physical, and says she doesn't know if she'll ever be at peace with it. We hope this community helps support her as she learns to live with this pain.
Keleigh lost her brother Michael on July 26, 2025. She is the youngest of the sisters, and when the rest of the family moved away, she and Michael stayed in New Jersey together.
As the baby of the family, she was the one who had to go into his home, prepare for services, and clean out his room. She has severe PTSD from what she saw.
She is one of three sisters in this community all grieving Michael alongside Alannah and Brighid. We hope being surrounded by people who understand gives her permission to set some of that weight down.
Kenny lost his brother Tobin in July 2025. Tobin was his younger brother, his best friend, and his business partner — Kenny always looked up to him even though he was younger.
He is navigating not just the loss of a sibling but the loss of a collaborator and the grief that shows up unexpectedly in his work life every day. We hope he finds in this community people who understand what it feels like to feel grief everywhere, including the office.
Laura lost her sister Marike on January 17, 2026 after many years of severe mental illness. Marike was 11 years younger, and Laura's feelings toward her were always maternal and fierce — she had helped care for her since Marike was a teenager, and watched her struggle with depression and anorexia since the Covid lockdowns.
Laura is 30 years old and is navigating guilt, family conflict, and the specific grief of losing someone you also spent years trying to protect. She came here in part because she wants to better understand her sister's death through other people's stories.
She is joining us from Germany (GMT+1). We hope Marike gets to be truly seen and known here — because that is exactly what Laura came for.
Marissa lost her brother Anthony on May 28, 2025. Their relationship was always easy — same values, the same way of seeing the world, a love that felt effortless. He was an emergency vet tech and called her for pet advice. He had just gotten a Pomsky for his fiancée, who gave the dog away after he died.
After Anthony died, Marissa quietly stopped taking care of herself, and it took hitting a wall of isolation before she reached out. She said she's not excited to have a reason to be here — but she is hopeful, and that took real courage to say. We hope this community becomes the place where she starts taking care of herself again.
From Marissa:
I like to do a little bit of everything. In a good way, I have somewhat of an addictive personality, so my hobbies go through cycles depending on my interests at the time. Some of those hobbies include: arts and crafts (coloring and painting, writing, knitting, even doing tie blankets for my cats), cooking or baking, playing video games with my family (we’ve all started a discord channel since my brother passed away to have a safe and fun place to connect), and visiting random parks in the area to take long walks.
Being with family is something that overflows my metaphorical cup. I really enjoy the life I have with my two cats (one that unfortunately has gone into end stage heart failure that was diagnosed on Valentine’s Day), and I am very passionate about the work I do in veterinary medicine (I spend a lot of time engaged in extracurricular activities such as patient safety and nursing acuity committees)— I also teach a class for our new hires as a part of their onboarding and it’s something I enjoy very much! I am engaged to my high school sweetheart and we hope to plan a wedding in the next 2 years and eventually start a family together.
Michelle lost her sister Laura on January 29, 2025. Laura was two years younger and the closest person Michelle had — and Michelle was the same for her. Laura had a big, loving soul and was fiercely protective of everything she loved.
She was a major animal lover who would save every lost animal she came across. Michelle is looking for somewhere her grief can truly belong.
We hope she finds in this community people who believe how fierce Michelle and Laura's love is for one another.
Mollee lost her brother David to suicide on February 8, 2023. David was eight years older, and Mollee was adopted as a baby — he had begged for a sibling, and then she arrived. They strengthened their bond when they had kids exactly a year apart.
She also lost her mom in November 2022 and her dad in April 2025, so she is grieving her entire immediate family in a short span of time. An aunt told her she was "an orphan again," and she is still carrying that. She is a special education teacher and grief-trained social worker, which means she knows exactly what she should be doing and finds it almost impossible to do any of it for herself.
We hope this is the place where someone finally takes care of her for a change.
Members who have lost a sibling to an overdose or substance use
Alex lost her sister Lauren to complications from alcohol use on November 4, 2025. Their relationship was complicated and strained, but Lauren still considered Alex her best friend. Lauren was her only sibling. That complexity is its own kind of grief, and it is just as real and just as welcome here.
We hope Alex finds in this community people who understand that love and difficulty can exist in the same loss, and that complicated grief is no less real.
Allison lost her sister Holly Lynn on December 21, 2023. Holly Lynn was two years older, a US military veteran, and a mother to two daughters. She struggled with addiction for years, and Allison spent a long time keeping her distance out of fear — while always looking up to her and deeply admiring her. Holly Lynn never really saw Allison as more than her "dumb younger sibling," but to Allison, she was everything.
When Holly Lynn died, Allison's entire family went silent — her parents don't speak to her, nor do her sisters-in-law We hope she feels, for the first time in a long time, that she is not alone in this — because she isn't, not anymore.
Elysse lost her brother Grant to fentanyl poisoning on August 31, 2025. Grant had moved to New York about ten years ago while Elysse stayed in California, and though they sometimes butted heads because he was bipolar, they were close.
Her husband is an only child, so she feels doubly alone in this. We hope she finds here people who help carry some of it — and who understand what it costs to be the one who handles everything while falling apart inside.

I’m Elysse, my brothers name was Grant we lost him unexpectedly to an accidental fentanyl overdose in 8/30/25 @ the age of 37. I am a CA native raised by 2 NY’ers who hated the cold.
I am an Interior Designer and a Lagree Instructor. I have 2 kids (7&10) who lived their only uncle very much. Both kids love sports (softball and soccer) so my husband and I are on the go. For fun I like to go to the gym or get to a fitness class with friends.

Kyrie lost her only sibling, her brother Brody, on January 4, 2026. He was 26. Brody had struggled with addiction since Kyrie was 14 — in and out of jail, with ADHD, bipolar disorder, and ODD — but he had been sober for a month after a prior overdose in December. Her mom had checked on him just an hour before finding him gone. Her parents performed CPR.
Kyrie is 23, a nurse in a rural area, far from her family, and says she can't critically think at work anymore — her days off are a blur. She carries guilt about being away from her family. Brody's birthday falls right after Easter.
We hope this community gives her somewhere to put all of it, and people who understand what it means to lose a sibling at 23 when the world acts like she should move on and act like a 'normal' 20 something.
From Kyrie:
About me; I was band for a long time playing in both the wind symphony, drumline, and pepband at Montana State University. I am now a year graduted but still an am a very active alumni and still play when needed with them. However I am now a registrared working in an inpatient setting. Hobbies wise I am a huge hockey head, I love to travel (exspecailly hockey stadiums) and just to get away, i hikeand kayak, plus im a cat mom of an adorable year old kitten.
Mary Jo lost her sister Sue to complications from addiction, alongside her sister Jean (ALS) and her nephew Kevin — all within roughly 18 months. She had to deliver devastating death news to her parents multiple times.
She is becoming more introverted and can sometimes feel overwhelmed by how heavy her emotions are.
We hope she finds here people gentle enough to meet her wherever she is — and that both Jean and Sue are remembered here.
Meg lost her brother Ryan in June 2023. He was 42. There is an autopsy report she has not yet been able to bring herself to read. Her parents say it was heart failure, but drugs were also in his system and around the house, and the house was barricaded — photos of her nephews and niece arranged by a table. Ryan was there for several days before her parents called the Alberta police for a wellness check. He had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and mental health for a long time, and Meg carries complicated grief about the how and the why.
One of the things she has named clearly is that she grieves the brother he was before addiction — and that dual loss is profound. She feels pressure from her mom to read the autopsy report, which is making her angry and more distant.
We hope this community gives her the space to grieve Ryan on her own timeline, in her own way — and that she never feels pressured here the way she does at home.
Sally lost her brother Daniel to substance abuse on March 16, 2026. They lived in different states but stayed in regular contact. She's joining us from Australia (AWST) and knows the time difference will make live meetings tricky — she mentioned that upfront and said it's okay. We hope the distance never makes her feel far from this community, because she belongs here just as much as anyone.
Members who have lost a sibling due to the actions of others
Angela's sister Christina was murdered on February 13, 2022. A stranger followed Christina into her apartment and stabbed her 40 times. Angela was 32; Christina was 35, and they were best friends who had lived together as adults.
Angela has been carrying this for four yearsSomething that matters deeply to her: the phrase "she died" feels too passive for what happened to Christina. She was murdered. That distinction is important, and we will honor it.
We hope this community gives Angela a place where Christina's life and death are spoken about with the full weight they deserve — and where "she was murdered" is always the language we use.
Kathryn lost her brother Calvin on February 26, 2025. When he was shot and killed by police. She describes their bond as amazingly deep and spiritual.
She recently learned the full circumstances of what happened, which she says in some ways it gave an unexpected kind of peace — and she is still very much processing all of it.
We hope this community gets to walk alongside her as she continues to process everything — and that Calvin is known here the way she knew him.
Lauren S. lost her only sibling, her brother Andrew, to a murder on October 28, 2024 — two weeks before his 28th birthday. Lauren largely raised Andrew while their mom worked long hours as a single parent. They had been estranged for a year before he died over a typical sibling argument. She received the 4am call and had to tell her parents. Her best friend didn't come to the funeral. An aunt stopped speaking to the family over a casket decision.
Her nephew Luca was born about two months after Andrew died. She says every memory she has, Andrew existed in. They got each other's initials tattooed at 18. Andrew called her "sissy" his whole life — as a baby it came out as "giggy," which became his nickname.
We hope this community holds Andrew's full name, his full life, the nickname giggy, and everything Lauren is still carrying.
Lauren T. lost her only sibling, her brother Colton, on August 12, 2024, when he was killed by a drunk semi truck driver.
She is about 18 months out and has not done any other form of therapy outside of one group — she knows she needs a therapist and is working her way up to it. Some days she really struggles.
We're glad she came back, and we hope this time around she finds a little more of what she needs — and that Colton is talked about here as often as she wants.
Laurisa is in the Loss Due to the Actions of Others group, which tells us something about the kind of loss she is carrying — a loss where someone else's choices took her sibling from her. We don't have much more on file yet, and we hope when the time feels right she'll feel safe enough to share more. Until then, she is welcome exactly as she is, and her grief belongs here just as much as anyone else's.
Mikaela lost her brother Diego in a motorcycle accident on July 11, 2025. She is based in Paris, away from family and friends.
She and Diego were just beginning to really enjoy a friendship as adults (both in their 20s), but with his death she never got to see that fully realized.
She's here to find people who understand what it is to lose a sibling, and to have a space where Diego is known and talked about. We hope this community helps her feel a little less alone — and that Diego's name gets spoken here as often as she needs it to be.
Sara lost her brother Casey in a car accident on July 20, 2021. She describes losing Casey as losing a part of herself she didn't think she'd ever have to live without — that he lived in parts of her she didn't even realize, and that it's hard to know who you are when you lose someone you don't remember life without.
Giving Casey space — saying his name, talking about him with others who are also missing their own person — has been healing for her, even when it's hard.
We hope Casey is talked about here as much and as freely as Sara needs — and that she finds in this group the same thing she came for: people who truly understand.
Shana lost her only sibling, her brother Ryan, on June 29, 2025 when a drunk driver hit him. Ryan was born two days after Shana's third birthday — she grew up thinking he was her birthday present. They finally moved close to each other in 2020 so they could raise their kids together. That was the whole plan.
She has a 4-year-old son who misses his uncle, and she is currently pregnant due September 2026 — a pregnancy she and her partner decided on after Ryan died, because she wanted her son to have a sibling relationship like the one she and Ryan had. Their birthdays are two days apart in March.
She has a tattoo of her maiden name in his handwriting with a daffodil. There are pending court cases. We hope this community holds her through the rest of this pregnancy and everything that comes with it — and that Ryan is talked about here as often as she needs him to be.
From Shana: I have a 4-year-old son and am pregnant with a daughter due in September. I like to ride my Peloton and have recently gotten back into outdoor bike rides now that my son can officially ride too. I have a 6-year-old tricolor corgi that our family is obsessed with, and I'm a firstborn Type A daughter who is getting a little tired of doing it all for everyone but herself.
Sky lost her sister Autumn to murder on August 3, 2023. Autumn was her biggest supporter, the person who showed up at her labor and delivery, the one who believed in her completely.
Sky has recently been through a court sentencing process and a potential appeals process may still lie ahead — meaning this loss keeps being reopened in ways that are brutal and exhausting. She is also parenting a newborn and a toddler, and her father died just six weeks ago. She is carrying an almost impossible amount at once, and she came here because she doesn't want to carry it alone anymore.
She's joining us from Australia (AEST). We hope this community becomes a place where Autumn is spoken about with the full love and weight she deserves — and where Sky finally gets to receive some of the care she has been giving to everyone else.

Members who have lost a sibling from Illness or Anticipated Loss
Amy lost her sister Lisa on November 10, 2024 after Lisa's years-long battle with metastatic breast cancer — a battle Lisa kept far more hidden than anyone knew. Amy had to be the one to tell their parents (now 87 and 89) just two weeks before Lisa passed.
She now lives three hours from her parents and flies back nearly every month. She said that losing Lisa is losing a part of herself she can never get back, and she carries the grief while also carrying almost all of the family.
We hope she finds here a place where someone carries something for her for once — and where Lisa is remembered as more than an illness.
Ashley lost her brother David to liver failure on July 18, 2025 and her brother Chris to suicide on July 8, 2001 and She adored Chris — he was the perfect eldest brother.
Her relationship with David was more complicated. When David was very sick he received many blood transfusions, and Ashley now donates blood around anniversaries and holidays to honor him.
She is the only child remaining. She has been carrying Chris's loss for most of her life and is now grieving David too.
We hope she finds here a place where both Chris and David are held — every layer, every year, all of it.
Brenda lost her brother Brent to congenital heart failure on April 7, 2023, 11 days earlier she lost her sister Barb to suicide on March 26, 2023.
She was on the phone when her brother-in-law discovered that Barb had already passed. Barb had struggled with depression for 20 years, and Brenda had been her person through all of it — the daily phone calls, even just to hear that she was still breathing.
She also carries the grief of her niece, who died in 2017. She has an estranged brother and has been doing most of this alone. We hope that here, for the first time in a long time, she doesn't have to do any of it alone.
Carolyn lost all three of her younger siblings: Wendy to ovarian cancer on January 15, 2022, John to Parkinson's on March 6, 2023, and Peter suddenly and unexpectedly on March 6, 2026 — cause still unknown.
She was the big sister to all three — the confidante, the support person, the therapist, the one they all called. She has an estranged brother she isn't close to.
She has lost three siblings in five years and is now doing this in a way that is very hard to put into words.
We hope this community becomes the place where she is finally the one who gets to be held — and where John, Wendy, and Peter are all remembered.
Christine lost her brother Gus to a heart attack on January 8, 2019. Gus was her hero and protector — she describes a love between them like a continuous loop, one starting where the other ends. She lost her mom the year before, and then Gus, and she says she genuinely doesn't know how she survived it.
She's been grieving silently for years while caring for his wife and her own family, and she felt it was finally time to tend to her own feelings.
She has two adult children who considered Gus a second father.
We hope this is the place where she finally receives some of the care she has spent years giving to everyone else — and where Gus is remembered as the hero he was to her.
Fatima lost her brother Humza to terminal brain cancer on December 25, 2025. He was 29 and she was 25. They had grown especially close during his treatment years — she often hosted him during appointments and was at her parents' house every day during hospice.
Humza was the calm in the family, generous and loving. Fatima is now the only remaining child, and there is quiet but real pressure from her parents around her career and relationship that she navigates alongside her grief.
There is also a complex dimension around Humza's relationship with Islam that brought its own community stresses.
We hope Humza gets to be fully known here — his calm, his generosity, his whole self — and that Fatima gets to be fully known too.
Isabella lost her sister Lauren — known to everyone as Poppy — in July 2024. Poppy was 25 and had been sick for only a year. She was a twin, and her other twin sister Lilly is still here — the three of them were absolutely the best of friends. Isabella is 29, a new mum from Australia, and her son was only six months old when Poppy died.
She has been bottling up a lot of her grief because motherhood is so demanding and she has very little support or space to grieve. She's been experiencing severe nighttime anxiety and insomnia, especially around Poppy's birthday in late May.
She's joining us from Australia. We hope this community becomes the space where Isabella finally gets to put some of that grief down and breathe — and where Poppy is remembered with the warmth her nickname always carried.
Mary Jo lost her sister Jean on December 14, 2025 to ALS complications, 18 weeks after losing her mom and 10 weeks after losing her dad. She also lost her sister Sue to complications from addiction and her nephew Kevin (age 30) to suicide — all within roughly 18 months.
he had to deliver devastating death news to her parents multiple times: once for Kevin, once for Sue. She is becoming more introverted and finds her emotions can be overwhelming at times. She and Jean always hiked together in Tucson.
We hope she finds here people gentle enough to meet her wherever she is — and that Jean and Sue are both remembered here.
Milla lost her sister Mette on December 29, 2025 after a three-year battle with stage IV lung cancer. Mette was two years younger, autistic (undiagnosed during her lifetime), and the funniest person Milla knew. The staff said she was stable the night she died — no one got to say goodbye. Those three years held their own losses too: she suffered from intractable pain due to how her cancer had spread and that caused a lot of suffering.
Mette was a very funny, kind and sensitive person. She loved animals, being in nature and music. The family's dogs were incredibly important to her and a big support during her illness.
Mette was a bio-information technology engineer by training and she had been promoted to team-lead right before she got ill.
We hope this community meets her exactly where she is — and that Mette, the funniest person Milla knew, gets to be laughed about and cried about here in equal measure.

I live in Helsinki, Finland in a pretty calm neighborhood with my partner. Things that have provided me comfort lately has weirdly been the tv-show The Walking Dead, as well as listening to Noah Kahan and Charlie Puth's new album.
Reshma lost her sister Neema to stomach cancer on October 24, 2022. Neema was six years younger and had become, as Reshma puts it, her other half — the person she called about dinner and also about the biggest decisions of her life.
Reshma now lives in India, surrounded by a cultural approach to grief that doesn't quite fit her, and she has been trying to walk this path alone for a long time.
She's based in IST (Indian Standard Time). We're so glad she took the leap — and we hope this community gives her back some of the understanding that Neema always provided.
Stephanie lost her sister Jen to ovarian cancer on September 12, 2014. They were only 13 months apart — basically the same age — and absolute best friends. Stephanie has carried this heavy loss for over a decade. She has good days and bad days, and says the grief is always subconsciously there.
She came here because she wanted a place that understands that sibling grief doesn't have an expiration date.
We hope that here she feels the truth that she belongs here just as much as anyone, no matter how many years have passed.
Members who have experienced the loss of a sibling to a sudden, unexpected loss
Brenna lost her brother Evan in a single vehicle accident on June 29, 2025. Evan was 24 and had just graduated from CU Boulder with dual degrees in Astrophysics and Business — two weeks before his death was Brenna's graduation, the last weekend she saw him. He used to stay up late helping her study for physics exams. He loved mountains, hiking, skiing, and good IPAs.
His favorite show was Avatar: The Last Airbender, his favorite movies were Lord of the Rings and Gladiator, his favorite artists were Kygo and Noah Kahan, and his favorite book was Project Hail Mary — the trailer for the movie dropped the day after he died. They watched anime together during Covid. He was selfless and considerate and her very best friend.
We hope this community becomes a place where Evan's enormous life keeps getting talked about, for as long as Brenna needs to talk about him.
Cathy lost her brother Rob on June 11th — an unknown cardiac issue that took him suddenly at 63. She describes him simply as her dear, sweet, amazing brother, and you can feel in those words how much space he occupied in her life.
Cathy is a retired chiropractor who has spent many years working as a medium, and her deep belief that life is a continuum brings her real comfort — and yet, as she puts it, the grief is the grief. It shows up regardless of what you know or believe, and she is not above it.
She is married with no children, and says she is still loving life — just missing Rob terribly. She came here because she has been looking for people who truly understand, and she found us.
We hope this community gives her exactly that — people who get it — and that Rob is known and talked about here as often as she needs.
Chelsea lost her brother Zac in November 2024, two days before Thanksgiving. Zac was 24, healthy, ran every day, walked to and from everywhere — and he just dropped dead at work. The cause is still completely unknown.
He had moved to New York City, which had always been his dream. He was funny and always down to try something new. Chelsea is sitting with a loss that has no explanation, which is its own particular kind of impossible.

Courtney lost her sister Megan on April 26, 2025 — three weeks before Courtney's wedding, on which Megan was supposed to be her maid of honor. Megan had Type 1 diabetes and gastroparesis, and when she changed jobs her new insurance didn't cover her insulin pump. She went into diabetic ketoacidosis at home alone and her heart stopped.
Courtney and Megan were extremely close — they shared a room as kids, talked almost every day even living on opposite sides of the country, and had grown especially tight after their parents' divorce. Courtney says nobody ever asks how she's doing — only how her parents are.
She's an invisible griever, and she came here to finally be seen. We hope she feels seen here from day one — not as a daughter of grieving parents, but as Megan's sister, which is its own whole loss that deserves its own whole space.
Julia lost her brother Bob on April 27, 2024. He had a cardiac incident while on a treadmill — there is no confirmed cause beyond that. Bob was nine years older and had been the closest thing she had to both a best friend and a father figure. In the three or four months before he died, Julia had been focused on dating and they had barely talked — and then he was gone.
She has been keeping her grief tucked ever since, especially after her own father went into memory care four months after Bob died.
She says simply: I miss my best friend. We hope she finds in this community permission to finally express her feelings — and that Bob is remembered here as the person who was kind and loving to her.
Mead lost her brother Ahmad to pneumonia on July 4, 2024. Ahmad was her best friend, her person, her role model — the only one who truly understood her. She told him everything. Mead is carrying significant anger, which makes so much sense in such an unfair loss.
We hope this community becomes a place where that anger is welcome, witnessed, and held — because it belongs here just as much as anything else.
Natasha lost her only sibling, her brother Mikie, on July 19, 2025. They were 21 months apart — he was one grade above her, and he knew her better than almost anyone. He gave a speech at her wedding alongside her maids of honor because there was no question that he belonged there. He was the godfather to her son.
Natasha is a school psychologist and a mom of a 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl — a similar age gap to how she and Mikie grew up. She recently started individual therapy and says she feels very alone in her grief even surrounded by loving people.
We hope she finds here what she found in Mikie — someone who just gets it — and that Mikie is spoken about here with all the love she carries for him.
Payge lost her only sibling, her sister Blayr, in a car accident on September 27, 2025. Blayr was 25 — a University of Tennessee majorette, a civil engineer, a skier, someone described as fun, smart, passionate, and unapologetically quirky. There was a six-year age gap between them, Payge being older, and their relationship had been complicated in the years before Blayr died —
Blayr was making decisions Payge disagreed with, often alcohol-related, and Payge had been setting boundaries. She thought they'd have time to repair it. She thought Blayr would grow into herself. She was waiting for that version of their relationship, and now it won't come.
She is grieving her sister and simultaneously grieving the father she knew.
She is still adjusting to the question "do you have siblings?" We hope this community becomes a place where Blayr — quirky, passionate, 25 years old — is remembered fully, and where Payge doesn't have to set her own grief aside for anyone
Rachel lost her only sibling, her brother Trevor, on February 22, 2025. He was 33 and died in his sleep — the cause isn't clear. She is still in shock and says it doesn't feel real. Her older daughter, who recently turned four, talks about Trevor every single day.
Her younger daughter was only three months old when he died. Rachel feels robbed of being an aunt and having a sister-in-law — she always wanted a sister. She used to be a people-pleaser, but she no longer has the energy to care what others think. Februarys are hard.
We hope this community gives her somewhere to miss Trevor out loud and make space for her own unique pain.
Sadie lost her brother Zac on November 11, 2024. Zac had picked up a second job delivering Amazon packages because his new wife was five months pregnant — they had only been married five months. It was dark and raining when he was t-boned at a sketchy intersection.
Sadie's mom has now lost two sons — another brother, Todd, died of SIDS. Sadie was her sister-in-law's labor and delivery nurse when Zac's baby was born. Zac was 33. She recently turned 33, something that was never supposed to happen.
She has been the family fixer for as long as she can remember, and she is exhausted from it. She moved to be closer to family and is questioning her career after 12 years.
We hope this is finally the place where someone shows up for her — and where Zac is remembered as the person who was never supposed to leave.
Sage lost her brother Dalton on January 14, 2026 after respiratory complications following surgery. They were triplets. Dalton was severely physically disabled, and Sage also has a disabled younger sister whose medical needs she helps manage part-time — she has been a caregiver her whole life while also being a grieving sibling.
She describes herself as a "glass child/bereavement combo." Six weeks after Dalton died, her family got his heartbeat tattooed from a hospital printout, with her mom's handwriting of his name. Sage journals every day.
She came here because she wanted to feel less crazy and less alone. We hope she feels here that she is neither crazy nor alone — and that Dalton is known in this community as someone who was deeply, completely loved.
Samantha lost her only sibling, her brother Andrew, on February 14, 2025 — Valentine's Day.
He was 42, a phlebotomist who loved helping people, and someone who loved being outside — camping, hiking, biking. His death was sudden, from a cardiac arrhythmia.
Their relationship had its ups and downs but was at its most positive right before he died.
We hope this community gives her and her grief a Valentine's Day that feels a little less lonely — and that Andrew is remembered here as the person who made the world better just by being in it.

Shannon lost her brother Bradly on February 24, 2026 Bradly was 22 and a cancer survivor from age six — Shannon had always been extra protective of him because of it. They traveled a lot growing up, so he was her ready-made best friend. He played hockey at Niagara University and his nickname was "Burd" — on the ice and at the oncology camp where they volunteered together.
Her 5-year-old nephew Callum still asks to FaceTime him and was supposed to learn to skate from him. She and her husband got "Burd" wings tattooed in his honor. Her sister-in-law, who is also her best friend, has not spoken to her since the day it happened. .
We hope this community wraps around her as she moves through these very early, very raw days — and that Bradly is celebrated here the way he deserves.
